Regulation signs

White rectangles with black letters/symbols

Stop sign

Red with white letters. Come to a full stop, yield the right of way to vehicles/pedestrians in or heading toward intersection, then go when safe. Come to stop before stop line, if not, before entering crosswalk

Yield sign

Red and white with red letters. Decrease speed as you reach the intersection. Come to a full stop at this sign if necessary. Check carefully for traffic and be prepared to stop

Other regulation signs

White with black/red letters or symbols. Info about rules for traffic direction, lane use, turns, speed, parking and other special requirements. Some have red circle with slash showing that action is not allowed. Rectangular white signs with black/red letters or symbols are indications to be alert for special rules

Warning signs

Yellow with black letters or symbols. Approaching hazardous location where there are special rules. Can be joined with a yellow and black recommended speed sign showing reduced speed is advised in that area

Railroad crossing warning sign

Railroad crossing ahead. Use caution and be prepared to stop. If you are following a bus or truck approaching a railroad crossing, be careful. Most of them must stop at railroad crossings

Work area signs

Orange with black letters/symbols. People are at work on or near the roadway and traffic can be controlled by a flag person. Work area speed limit as low as 25mph can be posted, even if no speed limit is given you must drive at this reduced speed through work zone & obey flag persons

Blue with white letters or symbols. Show the location of services like rest areas, gas stations, camping and medical facilities

Route signs

Different colors. Show interstate, U.S, state or country routes. The shape tells you the type of route you ate on. First signs is state, second is U.S, Third is interstate
