Acquisition



Learning by listening, reading, watching. The learner needs to actively engage with thepresentation, and the Instructor has to encourage their attention and interest by structuring andpresenting the ideas and information appropriately.

Inquiry



Provides the learner with a focus for their inquiry, resources they willneed, and a proposed method of working to guide their learning process. The resource may include theInstructor, but would tend to focus on books, papers, reports, and digital resources.

Practice



Learners will typically be given an exercise tocarry out in some task environment, designed to link to the theoretical concepts they have tolearn.

Production

Learning through production refers to activities where the learner demonstrates the outcome oftheir learning, typically by producing something, e.g. an essay, a report, or a design. Theprocess should enable the learner to consolidate what they have learned, perhaps over morethan one topic, and linking theory to practice.

Discussion

Learner articulate their ideas and questions, and challenge and respond to the ideas and questionsfrom the teacher, and/or from their peers.

Collaboration

Builds on the prior 5 learning types to take part in the processes of knowledge construction and production.
