What are the colors of a map, and what does each color represent?

-black-indicates cultural(man made) features such as roads buildings surveyed spot elevations and all labels


-Red-Brown- the colors of red and brown combined to identify cultural features, all relief features, non surveyed spot elevations, and contour lines on a red light readable map


-Blue- water features such as lakes, streams, rivers, swamps, and drainage


-Green- vegetation with military significance( i.e woods, orchards, vineyards)


-Brown- all relief features and elevation on older maps, cultivated land on red light readable maps


-Red- classifies cultural features, such as populated areas, roads and boundaries on older maps


-Other- sometimes used to show special information
