name and visualize the 22 parts of the Femur:
1- Head
2- Neck
3- Greater Trochanter ( more superior)
4- Lesser trochanter
5- Intertrochanteric Line (Anterior)
6- Intertrochanteric crest (posterior)
7- quadrate tubercle (is seen from posterior view)
8- Trochanteric fossa (again, is on posterior side)
9- Fovea capitis
10- spiral line (wraps around the femur below the pectineal line onto the medial side of the shaft)
11- Pectineal line (is is line parallel to the shaft that is directly underneath the lesser trochanter on the posterior side)
12- Gluteal tuberosity (is of course on the lateral side. It's below the intertrochanteric crest)
13- linea aspera (is the big line that is one the posterior side of the shaft)
14- shaft
15- adductor tubercle (is on the medial just above the medial epicondyle)
16- medial condyle
17- lateral condyle
18- lateral supracondylar ridge (is what results from the linea aspera)
19- Medial supracondylar ridge (is what results from the linea aspera)
20- popliteal surface (posterior side)
21- patellar surface (anterior side)
22- intercondylar fossa (in between the two condyles)
Name and visualize the 5 parts of the patella:
1- Base (Superior)
2- Apex (inferior)
3- Lateral facet (larger)
4- Vertical ridge (in between the lateral and medial facets)
5- Medial facet
name and visualize the 13 parts of the Tibia:
1- Intercondylar eminence
2- lateral condyle
3- medial condyle
4- lateral plateau
5- medial plateau
6- Gerdy's tubercle (on anterolateral condyle)
7- tibial tuberosity (on anterior side)
8- interosseous border (on lateral side)
9- Anterior border (sharp ridge right on anterior side)
10- Soleal line (just inferior to articular facet for head of fibular. It curves inframedially)
11- Articular facet for head of fibula ( is on posterior side, on inferior surface of lateral condyle)
12- medial malleolus (will be on the medial side)
13- fibular notch (will be on the lateral side of the lower end of the tibia)
name and visualize the 8 parts of the fibular
Lie it down, line will go to the left or right.

1- Head
2- Superior Articular facet (For superior tibiofibular joint. it's going to be medially)
3- Styloid process (is on lateral side of the proximal end of the fibular)
4- Interosseous border (on medial side)
5- Lateral Malleolus (on the lateral side. is more smashed)
6- Malleolar fossa (is just anterior and medial to the lateral malleolus. faces down and medially)
7- inferior articular facet (is on medial side. articulates with tibia)
8- Anterior border
name and visualize the carpal bones and the associated structures we need to know:
1- Calcaneus (2. sustentaculum tali (juts out medially) 3. Peroneal trochlea (is a bump on the lateral surface of the calcanus) 4. Calcaneal tuberosity (is the posterior surface of the calcaneus))
5. Talus (6. Dome of Talus)
7. Cuboid (articulates with the calcaneus. Is most lateral). (8. Groove for peroneus longus- is on the inferior part of the cuboid)
9. Navicular- articulates with the talus. Is more medial than the cuboid (10. navicular tuberosity- is part facing down on navicular. It's on the plantar surface. It's on the medial part of the navicular)
11. 1st, 2nd, 3rd cuneiforms (from medial to lateral). so the 1st cuneiform articulates with the navicular and big toe. 2nd cuneiform articulates with the 2nd toe and navicular. the 3rd cuneiform articulates with the 3rd toe, navicular and cuboid)
what are the 3 main parts of each metatarsal we need to know?
head, shaft, Base (from distal to proximal
what is the one unique part of a metatarsal that we need to know?
the tuberosity of base of 5th metatarsal
and then we have the Phalanges. Proximal, middle, and distal. but which one has only a proximal and distal?
the hallux.
What bone is under the 1st metatarsal head?
sesmoid bones
common words to get mixed up:

5 words that start with a C:
1- Coronoid Process- on mandible
2- Conoid tubercle- on clavicle
3- Coracoid process- on scapula
4- Coronoid Fossa- On humerus
5- Coronoid Process- on Ulna
which bones do we need to know the epicondyles and NOT the condyles?
Humerus
which bones do we need to know the condyles and NOT the epicondyles?
femur and tibia
which bones have a styloid process?
Temporal bone
Radius
Ulna
fibula
what bones have a pectineal line?
os coxae
femur
what bones have medial and lateral supracondylar ridges?
femur
