Sentence

A sentence is made of one up of one or more words that express a complete thought.

Subject

A subject is a part of a sentence that is doing something or about which something is said.

Simple Subject

It is the subject without the words that describe or modifiers.

Compound Subject

It has two ore more simple subjects.

Predicate

It is the part of the sentence that says something about the subject.

Simple Predicate

It is the predicate without the words that describe or modify it.

Compound Predicate

A compound predicate of two or more simple predicates.

Phrase

It is a group of related words that lack either a subject or a predicate.

Clause

A group of related words that has both a subject and a predicate.

Simple Sentence

It is a sentence with only one independent clause. It may have either a simple subject or a compound subject.
