Who is King arguing against in this letter?
King is arguing against members of the clergy that disagree with his actions. Specifically, he needs to deal with those who claim that it is never permissible to violate the law for any reason on one extreme, and those who claim that violence is a more effective way for him to achieve his goals.
What is necessary for civil disobedience to occur?
There are four steps in any direct action campaign: collection of facts, negotiation, purification, and direct action. Civil disobedience requires an open and public violation of the law.
What is civil disobedience meant to do?
Civil disobedience is meant to bring an issue to light and by bringining attention to your cause people will start paying attention and make sure things are changing. The ultimate goal is to lead to negotiation.
In what ways can a law be unjust?

"An unjust law is no law at all" (pg.82).


Unjust laws single out certain individuals or target parts of society that have no right to vote.


Some laws are just, but are enforced in an unjust way.
