1. lie prone with shoulder abducted to 90 degrees and the elbow flexed to 90 degrees with forearm hanging over the table.

O: spa of c7-t3
I: medial aspect of the acromian and the spine of the scapula

palpate: lateral to the origin

pt: lift your arm off the table towards the ceiling

1. lie prone with hand resting on the lower back

O: sps of C7- T5
I: vertebral border of the scapula between the spine and the inferior angle

palpate: medial to the vertebral border of the scapula

pt: lift your hand off your lower back towards the ceiling
