Psoas Major

O: tps bodies & disk of T12- L5

I: lesser trochanter

A: prime hip flexion, external rot.
(CKC) = anterior tilter of pelvis

N: femoral nerve (L2 & L3)
Iliacus

O: Iliac fossa

I: lesser trochanter

A: prime hip flexion

N: femoral nerve (L2, L3, L4)
Illiopsoas

(psoas major & iliacus) form this muscle together

they both drive the pelvis anteriorly
Rectus Femoris (Quadricep Muscle)

O: AIIS (anterior inferior iliac spine)

I: tibial tuberosity via patella ligament

A: Hip flexor, knee extension

N: femoral nerve
Sartoris (longest muscle in the body)

O: ASIS

I: anterior medial proximal tibia ( pes anserine)

A: hip flexor, external rotator, abduction, and knee flexion

N: femoral nerve
Pectineus

O: Superior ramis of pubis

I: pectineal line of femur (posteriomedial)

A: hip flexion, hip adduction

N: femoral nerve
Adductor Longus

O: Pubis

I: middle 1/3 of linea aspera

A: hip adduction and flexion

N: obturator (L2, L3, L4)
Adductor Brevis

O: pubis

I: proximal linea aspera

A: hip adduction

N: obturator
Adductor Magnus

O: AP=pubis, PP=ischium

I: AP= linea aspera, PP= adductor tubercle

A: AP= hip adduction, hip flexion , PP= Hip ext

N: AP= obturator, PP= sciatic nerve - tibial branch
Gracilis

O: pubis

I: proximal, anteriomedial tibia (pes anserine)

A: Hip adduction

N: obturator
Gluteus Maximus

O: post. illium, sacram, si joint, sacral tuberous lig.

I: post. prox. greater trochanter

A: Hip ext., ext. rot, abduction with TFL & knee ext

N: inferior gluteal nerve ( L5, S1, S2)
Gluteus Medias

O: outer crest of ilium

I: posterior aspect of the greater trochanter

A: hip abduction

N: superior gluteal nerve (L4, L5, S1)
Gluteus Minimus

O: lateral aspect of the ilium

I: anterior aspect of greater trochanter
A:hip abduction, internal rotation
N: superior gluteal nerve
Tensor Fascia Lata (TFL)

O: ASIS

I: IT Band

A: hip flexion, IR ,abduction with G.Maximus, and knee ext.

N: Superior Gluteal Nerve ( L4, L5, S1)
Piriformis

O: anterior aspect of sacrum S1-S2

I: superior aspect of the greater trochanter

A: external rotation of hip/ beyond 90 degrees , it becomes internal rotation. contralateral rotator of sacrum. Bilateral contraction of the piriformis will give us a counternutation of the sacrum. the piriformis originally nutates the sacrum

N: nerve to piriformis S1-S2
