First Law
the orbit of a planet is an ellipse with the sun at one focus
Second Law
the orbit of a planet sweeps out equal areas in equal time intervals
Third Law
the square of the period of a planet is proportional to the cube of the semi-major axis of the orbital eclipse P^2 = A^3 where P is the Period in years and A is the semi-major axis in AU
Newton's First Law
an object at rest or in uniform motion continues in that state unless acted on by an outside force; also called the Law of Inertia
Newton's Second Law
- the acceleration of an object is equal to the force applied divided its mass; Acceleration = force/mass
Newton's third law
- equal and opposite reaction force; bike with the compressed air
• Conservation of momentum - momentum, mass times velocity, is always conserved in a system unless acted upon by an outside force
