-develops a sense of maai (proper distance) -senjutsu fighting strategy -Psychological preparedness -enhances fighting spirit, courage and confidence in one's ability. -it develops sixth sense, essential for attack and defence -it develops eye training It does body conditioning. Disadvantages -chances of injury as it fast and close -in some kumite there is winner/loser leading to ego -if one practices kumite only, one uses favourite techniques and forgets other -partner is essential -some of them cannot be practised with old or sick people |
