Stages of skill acquisition

Cognitive, associative and autonomous.

Proceduralization

The process by which a task i performed by application of procedural knowledge rather than explicit use of declarative knowledge. Prefrontal cortex is less active. Development of expertise.



Tactical learnign

Refers to the processes by which one learns specific solutions to specific problems. The solution does not need to be figured out, only the procedures need to be remembered.


Prefrontal cortex--> posterior regions --> hippocampus. (Qualitative change).

Strategic learning

Process by which one learns to organize one's problem solving, putting together the tactics remembered.

Deliberate practise

Practise referring to motivating to learn and not just perform. Feedback & focus on eliminating discrepancies between current performance and the correct/perfect.
