Epiphenomenon

A mental experience that does not have any functional role in information processing. Daniel Dennett, mental images are epiphenomenal.

Mental imagery

The processing of perceptual-like information in the absence of an external source for the perceptual information.

Mental rotation

The tranformation of the orientation of a mental image. Angle of disparity.

Fusiform face area FFA

Area in temporal cortex involved in processing visual imformation of faces both when seeing and imagining (less activated).

Parahippocampal place area PPA

Area responding vigorously to pictures and mental images (less activated) of places.
