Gambler's fallacy

The belief that past events will affect future events in a game of chance, so as to "even" og "average" things out.

Recognition heuristic

Heuristic which applies in cases where people recognize one thing and not the other, which leads people to believe that the thing that got recognized is larger or more important. A city's size correlates with how often it is mentioned in media. This heuristic can be combined with other knowledge, pandas.



Prior probability

The probability that a hypothesis is true before considering evidence.

Conditional probability

Probability that a perticular type of evidence is true if a particular hypothesis is true.

Posterior probability

The probability that a hypothesis is true after consideration of the evidence.
