1. Tell me about yourself?

I have 13 years of experience with customer service and within those years I have built experience in the aviation industry for 5 years now. Throughout my years of experience I have learn many valuable skills such as good communication, ability to work under pressure, leadership, self motivator, team work, time management and more. With the skill sets I have, it has led me to achieve a role in acting lead and most recently the role of acting supervisor

2. Why do you want to be a supervisor?

Over the years working with JetBlue, I have been working on myself personally and professionally towards becoming a supervisor and now I feel I have the necessary skills, qualities and attributes to become great in this role. I am confident I can lead and motivate a team towards achieving the goals of the company.

3. Why do you think you can excel in this role?

I believe I will excel in the role of supervisor because first I'm always professional and set myself and other people high standards. Secondly I am able to motivate, lead, inspire and deliver a level of support. Third I am able to take on lots of work and achieve the required task while working under pressure. If you hire me as your supervisor within this role. I will not let you down because I feel confident you will be impressed with my work ethics and my high standards.

4. Why do you want to work for our company as a supervisor?

As I mentioned earlier, throughout my years being with JetBlue. JetBlues culture has inspired me to push for a better future. It has allowed me to to evolve personally and professionally.

5. Tell me about a time you had to gain customers trust?

When I was employed as a pharmacy technician assistant. One day a customer came in requesting a refill on her medication but she did not have any refills left. So I told her to not worry and that I would take care of her. I went ahead with the permission of the pharmacist and allow the patient a 2 day supply of her medication and giving her my word that I would go ahead and call her doctor to notify a request for a new prescription so I may process her new refill. Once I completed that task, I gave the cust omer a call and notified her that her refills were ready to be picked up. But instead I decided to go above and beyond and deliver the medication to her home.

6. Tell me about a time your crew/team disagreed with you?

During my time when I was a CO Trainee I witness multiple inmates physically fighting. My decision was to have my partner and myself try to deescalate the situation. But my partner at the time disagreed with me because he felt we were outnumbered and not in a safe zone to go in by ourselves. So then he thought it was best to request immediate back up. And so we came to that agreement.

7. Tell me about a time you noticed someone not following proper procedures and how did you handle it?

A time when I noticed someone not following proper procedures was when I was working a flight and notice a CM not following Safety procedures. Once we were done working our flight I decided it was best to speak with the CM and discuss why he did not follow proper safety procedures. I then explained to him how important it was to always follow safety procedures because safety starts with you and not only can you put yourself at risk but others around you as well. As a result the CM understood and acknowledge our conversation and began to improve his safety procedures.

8. Tell about a time you had to motivate your team?

A time when I had to motivate my team was when I was in field training for Correctional Officer and I had teammates that where struggling to make it through the training course. So I sat down and spoke with them and discussed what motivated them to want to become CO’s and so I used their motivation as a tool to push them harder and remind them how important it was to not e ver give up and that we needed to keep pushing. As a result we made it to the end of the field training and no one was left behind.

9. Name a time you had a challenge with someone, what did you do to solve the situation?

A time when I had a challenge with someone was when a CM was not delivering work expectations and failing to following safety procedures. As a team leader I spoke with the CM and explained t he importance of delivering work expectations and following correct safety procedures. After having a conversation with the CM I began to monitor his performance each day and as a result the CM’s performance had improved.

10. Name a time someone challenged your authority?

A time when someone challenged my authority was when I had a CM on my team who was not complying with the teamwork expectations I provided during our team briefing. The CM’s behavior was effecting our on time perfo rmance during flights. Therefor it was my duty as a team leader to speak with the individual and follow a 4 step method that I like to set LISTEN, GIVE FEEDBACK, DOCUMENT and finally SET CONSEQUENCES.

12. How would you motivate the people within your team as the Supervisor? OR As our supervisor, what steps would you take to motivate your team?

The steps I would take to motivate my team would be to set high standards, show a high level of support and encourage the team to work towards their goals and objectives of the company.

13. Why should we hire you as a Supervisor ?

I believe you should hire me because Im confident that I have the qualifications and core skills you're looking for. Im also confident that you will be able to rely on me professionally to deliver high quality work and provide high level of support to my fellow colleagues. Most importantly I believe I will be a strong and inspirational supervisor and feel you will be impressed with my strong work ethics and determination.

14. How would you deal with conflict in your team?

If I saw conflict between two team me mbers I would stop it immediately. First I would speak with both team member to get a better understanding of what occur them to both have conflict with one another. Secondly I would kindly ask for both of them to solve their issues between themselves in a peaceful manner. Finally I would explain to them that having conflict can impact negatively on the team and in the long run it we could suffer as a result. Therefore it would be advisable for them to sort it out quickly because the team must always come first before any personal disagreement

15. Tell me about a time when you demonstrated strong leadership skills in a team?

Back when I was stationed in JFK I was nominated to be a mentor to a team of baby blues. I was chosen for the role because I was reliable, responsible and well trained with leadership skills. On tha t day I demonstrated my skills by briefing our new CM’s for each assignments and what expectations had to be met, I also used our core values as a tool of motivation.

16. How would you delegate responsibilities and tasks efficiently as a supervisor?

First I would want to get to know my team members strength and weaknesses and seek what motivates each one of them. That enables me to delegate the right task and project to the right person. Secondly I would sit down with the individual and have a briefing explaining the expectations and a timescale. I find this delegation highly effective and it allows me to put trust in that individual and their ability to deliver.

17. How would you manage an underperforming member of your team as a supervisor?

I would speak with that team member and discus s their strength and weaknesses. From there I would motivate the team member by setting high standards and then conduct an evaluation that way I could monitor their performance and provide any mentorship to keep pushing them for success.

18. As the supervisor, how would you monitor the performance of your team?

I would set targets to achieve or projects to complete within a time frame. That way I have some thing to measure their performance against. I would also make sure I conduct an evaluation of each team member every six months.

19. Tell me about a time when you used your initiative to solve a difficult problem at work.

In my previous job, I was aware that there were a number of problems between some members of the team. The team wasn't working effectively and the actions of the team were starting to have an effect on the t eams performance. So I decided to take initiative to resolve the issue and decided to discuss in what ways we could improve. I asked everybody to share their views and opinions. I listened to each person individually and try to encourage people to come up with solutions in order to improve the teams effectiveness. A positive point that came from our discussions was that people felt that we didn't hold enough meetings to talk about the problems we all face. It was agreed that with immediate effect we would h old weekly meetings to discuss issues, gather and share information and look for ways that we could all support one another in our work. Since the meeting, the team has moved forward and Is now working far more effectively.

20. What’s the first thing you would do in the role of our newly appointed supervisor?

If Im successful and I get to become your supervisor. The first thing I would do is have a briefing with my leadership team, GM and discuss our objectives and what goals we want to meet. Then we would tackle one objective or goal at a time and work as a team. It would then be my task to lead and motivate the team along the way.
