they assume heirarchy. Based on education/exams. Age determines rank, so there is less tension about who is on top. graduates from same class may be at same level all life.

Even the rebel is a member of a group ( perhaps the same everywhere). don't express it in public. not encouraged to think about who they are as an individual. individual apart of something larger.

Schools are as responsible for raising a child as parents. uniformity of curriculum-nationally dictated. administrators look the other way when someone different is bullied.

Had the un-clean jobs dealing with death or animals. Also called eta-filthy and hinin-non human. When they tried to abolish the prejudice practices against them the commoners were angry.
