Location: Japan consists of several thousands of islands. Japan's closest neighbors are Korea, Russia and China.



This impacts them becasue it is mostly made up of mountains, therefore it is hard to live in those areas.

It takes more time to get to work because so many people need to get places and not many have their own cars.

What impact does population density have on health?

Smoke from factories and exhaust from cars can cause breathing problems. Sewage and wastewater poison rivers. Garbage, though, remains a problem. In 1972, Tokyo opened a huge trash dump on an island in Tokyo Bay. It filled up in just eight years. One of the worst pollution problems occurred in the 1950s. Local factories dumped mercury, which is highly toxic, into Minamata Bay.

What has new technology such as earthquake proof buildings impact Japan?

Building skyscrapers that can withstand severe shaking. Building up, will also create more space for other buildings since the population is so large.

How do they plan on stopping this?They won’t have enough people for all the jobs that need to be done. The economy could crash. Giving people 10,000 dollars to have another child. Trying to attract young immigrants to the country.
