When Food Item Codes are changed in recipesthis function prints out a report identifying the affected recipes and the FoodItem codes that were changed. FSM will assign new recipe numbers to the recipesthat were affected by changing the first letter to an X, Y or Z. If no recipeswere changed a negative report will be generated |

RECIPES - The Recipes function allows FSM users to create and performmaintenance on local recipes. Armed Forces Recipes can only be displayed orprinted. There are three types of recipes in the FSM system, Armed Forces,NAVSUP, and local. Armed Forces recipes start with A through V, NAVSUP recipesstart with W, and local recipes start with X, Y, or Z. A NAVSUP or local recipeis created when the Food Item Code (FIC) of one or more ingredients of an ArmedForces recipe is changed. |

MENUS - The Menus function allows FSM users to create and perform maintenanceon general mess menus. It provides help to menu writers by providing functionsfor displaying recipe frequency charts and NIS projections. Menus can becreated from scratch or they can be imported utilizing a 3 ½” floppy diskette.FSM has the capability to create or import three cycle menus with 49 days ineach cycle. Only one cycle can be activated at a time. Worksheets and breakoutdocuments can only be created for the cycle menu that is activated while menumaintenance can be performed on any menu at any time. Menus can also beexported using a 3 ½ “ floppy diskette. |

These files contain important informationunique to each item including National Stock Number (NSN), Unit of Issue (UI),Units per Case, Conversion Factors, Storage Locations, Pack Test Dates, Highand Low Limits, and Cube of Case. It is possible to modify certain data in aNAVSUP FIC when necessary. Local FIC’s begin with X, Y, or Z and are used bythe FSM system when general messes carry items that do not match existingNAVSUP FIC’s. |

When the Smart Card isimplemented, Smart Card headcounts will also be posted in this function.Additionally, DOD student headcounts are posted in this function for activitiesproviding meals to DOD students. |
