what is DNA?
the blueprint of life instucting cells how to develope and how to function.
what is a gene?
squence of DNA that determines a particular trait.
what is a dominant gene/ allele?
more common gene or allele that over powers a recessive and shows up in a population more often.
what is a recessive gene/ allele?
a weaker, less common gene/ allele in a given pair.
what is offspring?
result of a cross of two parents.
what are gametes
reproductive cells that contain one half of an indivdual's DNA.
what is heredity?
the passage of gentic instructions from one generation to the next.
what is asexual reproduction
reproduction where an exact copy of the parents gentic material is passed on to the offspring. most common in simple one cell organims.

ability to generate extensive amounts of genetic diversity, ability to produce variable offspring, some if which will have improved chances of survival in changing enviorments.

systems which work together to keep the body functioning normaly.
