(1Gy = 1 joule per kg)
(1 Gy = 100 cGy or 100 rad)
absorbed dose
Gathering data for measuring and evaluating patterns of care and outcomes among the general population. In oncology centers this is done on an ongoing basis with a Tumor Registry systmem.
abstracting
The technique in which the overall treatment time is shortened through the use of doses per fraction less than conventional doses two to three times per day.
accelerated fractionation
The technique in which there are more treatment days than accelerated fractionation. the total dose (cGy) of primary radiation is more than conventional fractionation, hyperfractionation, or accelerated fractionation
accelerated hyperfractionation
The structure resembles a length of a pipe and is the basic element of the linear accelerator. The accelerator structure allows electrons produced from a hot cathode to gain energy until they exit the far end of the pipe.

At which a radioactive isotope undergoes nuclear decay; units are the Curie (Ci) or becquerel (Bq = 1 disintegration per second) 1 Ci = 3.7 x 10^10 Bq
activity rate
A combination of the following drugs: doxorubicin, dacarbazine, cisplatin, and vincristine commonly used in chemotherapy.
