Why Did Jesus Have To Suffer?

It was in God’s eternal plan that The Lord Jesus Christ would have to suffer for our
sins:

Tit 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the
world began; Tit 1:3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching,
which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

God knew when He created man that man would sin. Therefore God made a way of escape from hell. Hell was not created for man; thought every man that rejects Christ will go there.
1Pe 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible hings, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your athers; 1Pe 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 1Pe 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 1Pe 1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1Pe 1:24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The sufferings of the Messiah were laid out in many Old Testament prophecies. In this one in Isaiah:
Isa 52:13 Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high. Isa 52:14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: Isa 52:15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.
Isa 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry
ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty
that we should desire him. Isa 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows,
and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised,

Who Is God?

That is a hard question. I am glad that we have God’s Word to answer the

question! David (the King of Israel) the Psalmist answered the question for us:


Psa 18:29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a
wall. Psa 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a
buckler to all those that trust in him. Psa 18:31 For who is God save the LORD? Or
who is a rock save our God? Psa 18:32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and
maketh my way perfect. Psa 18:33 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me
upon my high places. Psa 18:34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is
broken by mine arms.

- God’s ways are perfect
- God is the Lord (God is a trinity)
- God is a rock (The Lord Jesus is the rock of our salvation)
- God girds us with strength
- God makes our way perfect (Through His Son, Jesus Christ)
- God makes our feet like hinds feet (He is a sure foundation)
- God sets us upon high places
- God teaches us how to wage warfare

Again David said:

Psa 113:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name
of the LORD. Psa 113:2 Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for
evermore. Psa 113:3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the
LORD'S name is to be praised. Psa 113:4 The LORD is high above all nations, and his
glory above the heavens. Psa 113:5 Who is like unto the LORD our God, who
dwelleth on high, Psa 113:6 Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in
heaven, and in the earth! Psa 113:7 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the
needy out of the dunghill; Psa 113:8 That he may set him with princes, even with the
princes of his people. Psa 113:9 He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a
joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.

- God dwells on high
- God humbled Himself, was born of a woman, lived in human gflesh as the Son of God/Son of man and went to the cross of Calvary willingly to be the blood sacrifice for our sins
- God raiseth up the poor
- God lifteth up the needy
- God has compassion on all who seek Him

Micah the Prophet said: Mic 7:18 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth
iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not
his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. Mic 7:19 He will turn again, he will
have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins
into the depths of the sea. Mic 7:20 Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy
to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.

- Only God can forgive sin
- Only God can pass by transgression
- God delights in mercy
- God will turn again (if you repent of your sin and trust Christ)
- God has compassion on sinners
- God will forgive your iniquities if you ask Him
- God casts sins into the depths of the sea
- God keeps all His promises

Is God Really One In Three Persons?

Gods Word teaches that God is One, but that He is manifested in three separate persons. We call this truth the Trinity. I should point out that the word ‘trinity’ is not found in the Bible. The concept is found through out God’s Word. In the first chapter of Genesis we see:

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and
over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth,
and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Gen 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he
him; male and female created he them.

Man was created in the image of God. The Word says above that it was ‘our’ image that man was created in. ‘Our’ denotes something plural. The plural gave a singular image. God’s image is one but His person(s) are three: God the Father, God, The Son, and God the Holy Spirit. There is One God. He is three separate persons.

If we do a short word study from God’s Word on ‘in the beginning’ we find the Trinity described. Let’s Compare Gen 1:, John 1:3, and Gen 1:2:

- God the Father …Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the
earth.
- God the Son … Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. Joh 1:2 The same was in the
beginning with God. Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and
without him was not any thing made that was made.
- God the Holy Spirit … Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and
darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of
God moved upon the face of the waters.

Later in God’s Word we see: 1Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in
heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1Jo 5:8
And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the
blood: and these three agree in one. Three bear record (the Trinity). These three are
one (the Trinity). Three bear witness. The three that bear witness agree with each
other (the Trinity). The Trinity then is One God in three persons.

The Apostle Peter helped explain this to us in God’s Word:

2Pe 1:14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our
Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 2Pe 1:15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye
may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. 2Pe
1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known
unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses
of his majesty. 2Pe 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory,
when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my
beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 2Pe 1:18 And this voice which came
from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 2Pe 1:19 We
have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed,
as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star
arise in your hearts: 2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the
scripture is of any private interpretation. 2Pe 1:21 For the prophecy came not in
old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by
the Holy Ghost.

When the Lord Jesus began His earthly ministry God the Father signified His pleasure in Him (Jesus) by speaking in an audible voice. John the Baptist, a mighty prophet, said he saw the Holy Spirit, in the form of a dove, sit on the Lord’s shoulder.
So God the Son was baptized by John the Baptist who heard God the Father speak in an audible voice and saw God the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove rest on the Lord Jesus. The Trinity was present at creation and also at the Lord’s baptism as testified to by the eyewitness testimony of John the Baptist.

When the Lord Jesus gave his great commission to the disciples after His resurrection
He said:
Mat 28:17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given
unto me in heaven and in earth. Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Ghost: Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I
have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the
world. Amen.

New converts [sinners who got saved] were to be baptized in the name [singular] of three
persons [plural ”of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”. The Lord Jesus
taught the Trinity in His great commission to the church.

When God (the Trinity) created man, He created him in His image. Man is a three
part being (a human trinity if you will): body, soul, and spirit. The body is visible and
somewhat simple to explain – we see and understand what out body is (we can touch it
and feel it). The spirit is the breath of life. Man, since Adam, is born in sin. We have the
sin nature within in us that came from our earthly father Adam. The soul is that part of
you, which will always be you, throughout all eternity. As a lost sinner, when we ask and
receive Jesus Christ as our Savior, He gives us the Holy Spirit to dwell within the temple
of our bodies. Body, soul, and spirit are separate but form one human person that is
unique. God(the Trinity) created man a trinity.

In the last book of God’s Word we see the Trinity beckon to folks to believe.
Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the
churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning
star. Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth
say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the
water of life freely. Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words
of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add
unto him the plagues that are written in this book: Rev 22:19 And if any man
shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away
his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which
are written in this book. Rev 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I
come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Rev 22:21 The grace of our
Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
God the Father lives in heaven. He is a Spirit and must be worshipped in spirit and in
truth. God the Son [who claims lineage to David here] is also in heaven in this passage.
God the Holy Spirit is also there with the Bride (the church that was caught up in the
Rapture preceding the great tribulation).

What Is The Soul?

When God created Adam, God’s Word says that he was made a living soul. Man
was created a trinity – body, soul, and spirit. Our soul is that part of us that will always
be us, a unique creation of God – forever us. God created Adam. God then created Eve
from Adam’s rib. Adam knew Eve and she gave birth to Cain and later to Abel. Cain
slew Abel (the first murder). Abel is referred to in God’s Word as righteous. Cain is
referred to as wicked. From these references we can deduce that Abel was saved and
that Cain was lost. Eve later gave birth to other children (Seth, etc.). We are all
the children of Adam and Eve. Each person born of woman is a unique creation of
God.

The soul of each individual human being is unique. See:
Eze 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of
the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
And
Eze 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of
the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of
the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon
him.

The soul is precious.

- Psa 49:8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

- Psa 72:14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

The soul lives forever.

- Isa 55:3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

The soul must be redeemed.

- Psa 71:23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
- Lam 3:58 O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

The Lord Jesus told the story of a certain rich man:

Luk 16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen,
and fared sumptuously every day: Luk 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named
Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, Luk 16:21 And desiring to be fed with
the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his
sores. Luk 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels
into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; Luk 16:23 And in hell he
lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus,
that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in
this flame. Luk 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime
receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted,
and thou art tormented. Luk 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a
great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can
they pass to us, that would come from thence. Luk 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee
therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: Luk 16:28 For I have
five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Luk 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear
them. Luk 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the
dead, they will repent. Luk 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the
prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

The rich man in hell:
- Had eyes that saw
- Was in torments
- Saw Abraham and Lazarus
- Was very thirsty
- Had great desire for one drop of water
- Remembered that on earth he had good things; but rejected Christ
- Remembered that on earth Lazarus had NOT good things, but accepted Christ
- Knew he was lost FOREVER
- Desired that someone would tell his brothers
- Did not want any of his friends/family to go to hell with him

That [formerly rich] man is STILL IN HELL today.

Eze 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the
father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the
righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

The Lord told how if folks won’t believe the law or the prophets that they would not
believe someone coming back from the dead. The law and the prophets represent the Old
Testament. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the central doctrine of the New
Testament. If folks won’t believe the law, prophets, or resurrection – they won’t believe
God’s Word. What about you? What do you believe?

The Faith of Abraham

God’s Word has much to say about our spiritual father Abraham. Abram (later God gave him the name of Abraham) came from Ur of the Chaldee’s [now modern day Iraq] and was descended from Shem (whose father was Noah, who built the Ark). Abram married Sarai (later named Sarah by God) and they had Isaac (the child of promise). The faith of Abraham is heralded in the book of Romans:

Rom 4:16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the
promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law,
but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
Rom 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before
him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those
things which be not as though they were. Rom 4:18 Who against hope
believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according
to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. Rom 4:19 And being not
weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about
an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: Rom 4:20
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in
faith, giving glory to God; Rom 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what
he had promised, he was able also to perform. Rom 4:22 And therefore it
was imputed to him for righteousness. Rom 4:23 Now it was not written
for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; Rom 4:24 But for us also, to
whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord
from the dead; Rom 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised
again for our justification.

- Abraham is the father of all who have faith in God
- Abraham is the father of many nations
- Abraham had hope (faith) in God
- Abraham believed God and did his part (he was 99 years old) when God told him Sarah would have his son
- Abraham believed God could open Sarah’s (she was 90 years old) womb
- Because of Abraham’s faith; God imputed righteousness to him

Abraham, then, is counted as the father of all those who have faith. When Abraham
was ninety nine, Isaac was born to him by Sarah his wife (then ninety years old). God
had promised Abraham seed twenty three years earlier when He gave him a covenant
(Genesis Chapter 15). Hebrews Chapre 11, which is sometimes called faith’s hall of
fame, tells us some more about Abraham:

Heb 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which
he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing
whither he went. Heb 11:9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a
strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him
of the same promise: Heb 11:10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations,
whose builder and maker is God. Heb 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself
received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was
past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. Heb 11:12
Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars
of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having
seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and
confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. Heb 11:14 For they
that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. Heb 11:15 And truly,
if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might
have had opportunity to have returned. Heb 11:16 But now they desire a better
country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their
God: for he hath prepared for them a city. Heb 11:17 By faith Abraham, when
he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up
his only begotten son, Heb 11:18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy
seed be called: Heb 11:19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even
from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. Heb 11:20 By faith
Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.

- Abraham obeyed God
- Abraham sojourned where God said
- Abraham looked for a city God told him about
- Abraham believed God when He told him his seed would outnumber the stars (at that time he had no seed)
- Abraham offered up Isaac (his only begotten son)
- Abraham accounted (by faith) that God was able to raise Isaac up after he sacrificed him
o God told Abraham not to slay Isaac when He knew that he would in obedience

The Lord Jesus, during His earthly ministry, told unbelieving Jews about Abraham’s faith.

Joh 8:51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying,
he shall never see death. Joh 8:52 Then said the Jews unto him,
Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the
prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never
taste of death. Joh 8:53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham,
which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
Joh 8:54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing:
it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your
God: Joh 8:55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I
should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know
him, and keep his saying. Joh 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to
see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Joh 8:57 Then said the Jews
unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
Joh 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before

but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the
midst of them, and so passed by.

These Jews did not believe in the Lord Jesus. He was the Messiah, but they did not believe Him. They thought that their bloodline (they were children of Abraham) would get them to heaven. The Lord reminded them that: “Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.” On Mount Moriah, Isaac had asked his father a question: Gen 22:7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? Gen 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

God Himself provided the Lord Jesus Christ (His Son) as that lamb.

Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God.

Has God Preserved His Word?

This is an excellent question to ask. It’s also an excellent question to answer because it deals with the almighty power of God. So let’s deal first with what God says about His power. When God called Moses to go in to Egypt to lead His people, the Jews out; He said:

Exo 9:13 And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me. Exo 9:14 For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth. Exo 9:15 For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth. Exo 9:16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth. Exo 9:17 As yet exaltest thou thyself against my people, that thou wilt not let them go? Exo 9:18 Behold, to morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.

The Lord also mentioned His power to the prophet Isaiah:

Isa 40:5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. Isa 40:6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: Isa 40:7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. Isa 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Isa 40:9 O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God! Isa 40:10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. Isa 40:11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young. Isa 40:12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance? Isa 40:13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?

In the New Testament we see further reference to the power of God:

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, aptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Also: Joh 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: Joh 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, ad Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Joh 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. Joh 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. Joh 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

So let’s summarize: In the Law, the Prophets, and the New Testament God claims to
have all power in heaven and in earth. If that is so (and I believe that it is); then God
has the power to preserve His Word.

So let’s do a short word study on the phrase the Word of God:

Psa 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
- His way is perfect
- God’s Word has been tried

Pro 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
- God’s Word is pure [By the way … every word of it is pure!]
- God is a shield to those that trust in Him

Isa 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
- God’s Word will stand forever

Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
- The Lord used the Word of God to defeat Satan
- Every Word of God is good for us [It is life to us]

Luk 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word of God.
- Every Word of God is good for us

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
- Jesus Christ claims in the Word of God to be the Word of God!
o Now either this is true; or it is false
 If it is true; the we must believe all of the rest of the Word of God and accept Him as the Messiah and our Savior
 If it is false; then he is a fake, a fraud , and a liar
 How can we know for sure?

2Co 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
- Jesus Christ is God
- He is the Word of God (see above)
- God’s Word (the Son) can reconcile us to the Father

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
- God’s Word is quick [alive]
- God’s Word is powerful
- God’s Word can cut to the quick and find out our very thoughts/intents

Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God,
so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
- God’s Word spoke the world into existence

1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto
unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of
God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1Pe 1:24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the
glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth
away:
- God’s Word can save us
o You can only be born again by believing in God’s Word (The Son)

1Jo 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
- God’s Word can help us overcome the wicked one (Satan)
- We noted above how The Lord used God’s Word to defeat Satan [we should do the same.]

Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his
servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel
unto his servant John: Rev 1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony
of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

- Are you saved? I recommend the Lord Jesus (the Word of God) to you!

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he
had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. Rev 19:13 And he was clothed
with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. Rev 19:14
And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine
linen, white and clean. Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it
he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the
winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. Rev 19:16 And he hath on his
vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
- The name of the Son of God is The Word of God
o Jesus Christ

- He is also called the KING OF KINGS

I have not listed every reference to the word of God in God’s Word. You have God’s Word to study out for yourself! Open it up and see what He says about His Word. God has all power in heaven and earth, there is no place anywhere where He does not have all power! God spoke the world into existence with the Word of God. The Word (The Son) created the world and has been around since the beginning. God’s Word (The Son) is pure, perfect, and will live forever. He is KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

What Do Christians Believe?


Christians believe in the Virgin Birth:
- Jesus Christ is Son of Man and the Son of God. He was born of the virgin Mary as foretold by Isaiah the prophet. His perfect blood can cleanse any sinner.
Christians believe in the Deity of Christ
- Jesus Christ is the Word of God. He created the heaven and the earth. He is fully God; yet fully man. He lived in this sinful world without ever committing a sin. The Roma soldier who saw Him die said: Mar 15:39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
Christians believe in Blood Atonement
- Jesus shed his precious blood once on the cross for the sins of the whole world. As sinners we can receive salvation free for the asking because God was fully satisfied with His sacrifice.
Christians believe in the Inspiration & Preservation of Scriptures
- God’s Word is perfect down to the jot and the tittle (smallest detail). God
breathed the Holy Bible. It is 100% accurate.
Christians believe in the Pre-Millennial Return of Christ
- Jesus Christ is coming again. He will first rapture the church out of this world.
Then seven years of tribulation will come to the earth and her inhabitants.
After this He will return with His bride (the church) to the Mount of Olives to
set up His 1000 year reign on the earth.
Christians believe in the Trinity
- The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are all one - yet all distinct. It’s hard to
explain - but not to believe. The Bible says that there are THREE that bear
witness.
Christians believe in Bodily Resurrection of Christ
-There is an empty tomb outside the Damascus Gate at Jerusalem. Where is the
body of Jesus? He is alive!
A local church has three messages:
Get saved.
Act like you are saved.
Get others saved.
A New Testament Baptist Church is a place of:
Organized Ministry.
Fellowship.
Personal Ministry.
No church is perfect - Sinners like you and me go there! Let God lead you to the local church where He’d have you serve in. Then roll up your sleeves and get busy for God.

This is the question of the ages. You can know for 100% sure that you are saved. To understand this you'll need to get your Bible and ask God to show you His Word. What's the Bible say?

1. All men are sinners. Read Romans 3:10 and Romans 3:23.
- Are you a sinner?
2. There is a penalty for sin. Read Romans 5:12 and Romans 6:23.
- Has death passed upon you?
- What wage do you earn for your sin?
3. Jesus paid the penalty for your sin on the cross of Calvary and offers you eternal life as a free gift. Read Romans 6:23:
- What is the gift of God?
- Who gives this gift?
- Can a gift be bought?
- Can a gift be earned?
- If you rejected this free gift; would it still be a gift?
4. How did God demonstrate His love for us? Read Romans 5:8.
- Did Christ die personally for you?
- Did Jesus suffer on the cross?
-- Why did He suffer?
- Is there an empty grave outside Jerusalem?
- Where is the body of Jesus?
-If Jesus was dead in a tomb, wouldn't the Jewish leaders have dug Him
up and shown the disciples the evidence of his corpse?
5. How can you be born again? Read Romans 10: 9 - 10 and Romans 10:13.
- Are you a whosoever?
- Have you called upon the name of the Lord?
- If not, why not pray the sinner's prayer now?

Dear Lord have mercy on me. I know I am a sinner. I know you died on Calvary's cross for me. I accept you now as my personal Lord and Savior. Please forgive me of all my past sins, all my present sins, and all my future sins. Help me know that I am saved forever. In Jesus name.
