Doxazosin

Doxazosin is an alpha-adrenergic blockers. It relaxes your veins and arteries so that blood can more easily pass through them. Its used to treat hypertension or improve urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia.




Side effects: dizziness, fatigue, vertigo, hypertension, malaise, and other orthostatic effect etc.




Interactions: Alcohol, boceprevir, grastek, mixed grass pollens allergen extract, sodium oxybate etc.




Pt. education: Ex. initial dose; taken orally once a day. Maintenance dose; 1 to 16 mg orally a day etc.

Nitrofurantoin

Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. It is used to treat urinary tract infections.




Side effects: headache, dizziness, gas, upset stomach, mild diarrhea, or vaginal itching or discharge.




Interactions: amyl nitrite, epinephrine, leflunomide, lidocaine, mipomersen, prilocaine sodium nitrate etc.




Pt. Education: Follow all directions on your prescription label. Take with food. Shake oral suspension well just before you measure a dose. Can be mixed with milk, water, fruit juice.


You should not take nitrofurantoin if your allergic to or have sever kidney disease, 2 to 4 weeks pregnant, etc.

Clotrimazole

Clotrimazole topical is an antifungal medication that fights infections caused by fungus. It is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and yeast infections.




Side effects: skin rash, hives, blistering, burning, itching, peeling, redness, stinging, swelling, etc. If any of these side effects occur contact your doctor as soon as possible.




Interactions: N/A




Pt. Education: Use as directed by your doctor. It is used for skin only. Clean affected area with soap and water and dry thoroughly. Apply a thin layer on affected layer and wash hands Immediately after use. To clear up your infection completely, use for full coarse of treatment.



Alfuzosin

Alfuzosin is an alpha-adrenergic blocker. It helps relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate.




Side Effect: dizziness. Rare; chest pain, chills, cold sweats, confusion, fainting etc.




Interactions: alcohol, amoxicillin, anzemet, avelox, clozapine, denzapine, erythrocin etc.




Pt. Education: Use as directed by your doctor, take by mouth with food. Swallow alfuzosin whole, do not crush split, or chew before swallowing.
