also known as macroscopic anatomy, involves the examination of relatively large structures and features usually visible with the unaided eye.

Surface- study of general form and superficial markings. Regional- focuses on the anatomical organization of specific areas of the body. Head, neck or trunk. Systemic anatomy is the study of the structure of organ systems, which are groups of organs that work together.
