Science
A process of using logic, observations, and prior knowledge to answer questions.
Scientific Method
A process of doing science.
Observation
Something that your senses detect about your environment.
Purpose
A question the observation you made.
Hypothesis
A possible logical answer o your question stated in the if..then format. It must be testable.
Analysis & Conclusion
Figuring out what your data is telling you and if your hypothesis is correct.
Experiment
Your testing your hypothesis and collecting and recording data.
Repeat
Redo your tests to make sure your info is correct.
Theory
An explanation (similar to a hypothesis) that has been tested many times before and has evidence to back it.
Quantitative Observation
Any numeric measurement.
Qualitative Observation
An observation that involves general properties/characteristics. Anything descriptive.
Direct Observations
An observation made with your sense of sight.
Indirect Observations
An observation made with any of your senses other that your sense of sight.
Inferences
Something you think is true based on prior knowledge. It must be reasonable.
Variables
They're the conditions that change during the experiment, its anything that could change.
Independent Variable
Its the variable that you control and change.
Dependent Variable
The variable that changes based on the change you made to the independent variable.
Controlled Experiment
An experiment that only tests one independent variable. All other variables remain constant.
Control Group
The group that no change is introduced and everything is normal.
Experimental Group
The group that the independent variable is changed and the results are compared with the controlled group.
Metric System
The universal system of measurements used by scientists.
Meter
The base unit for length measurement.
Liter
The base unit for volume Measurement.
Gram
The base unit for mass measurement.
