Four Ways of Knowing |
Method of Tenacity, Method of Intuition, Method of Authority, and Method of Science |
Method of Tenacity |
Hold firmly to what they "know," and believe to be true. Sometimes this can be good, however there is a problem when a person holds to belief even if it disagrees with Scientific facts. |
Method of Intuition |
Agree with reason, not necessarily with experience. Usually based on tradition. |
Method of Authority |
If an idea comes from something or someone in authority (like the Bible) then it must be true. Not totally a wrong way of knowing, could be unsound at certain times -- who is this person. Problem is not knowing "which reason." |
Method of Science |
A person doesn't accept any statement as true unless there is evidence to that truth. |
