observation
Something you detect by using your surroundings or your senses
Purpose
A question you ask to figure out an observation.
Hypothesis
A statement formed from a conclusion of your question.
Experiment
The process of testing and recording data to approve your hypothesis.
Analysis and Conclusion
The process of changing your data to prove whether your hypothesis is correct.
Repeat
When your data doesn't work with your hypothesis repeat the process and make a new one.
Theory
Theory is the finalized process of science which supports your hypothesis and includes data to back it up.
Quantitative Observations
Things you detect with numbers, measurements, or amounts.
Qualitative observations
Something you find out by using your answers.
Direct Observations

When you find out something by only using your 3 senses, taste, touch, and smell
Inferences
A reasonable guess based on observations and evidence
Variables
A condition that can change during an experiment.
Independent variables
The variable that you can change and that you have direct control of.
Dependent variables
When the variable changes from the result of the independent variable.
Controlled Experiment
An experiment that tests the effects of one variable.
Control Group
When the effects of the group don't have the effects of the independent variable.
Experimental group
The independent variable is changed and then compared to the controlled group.
Metric System
A universal system of measurement
Meter
A base unit which measures length
Liter
A base unit which measures volume.
Gram
