Disperse lung qi and drain heat

Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang
Breathlessness, thirst with a desire for cold drink, dry throat, red complexion, a yellow-greasy tongue coating, and a rapid, slippery pulse.
3. Obstruction of Phlegm-Heat in the Lung

Resolve and drain phlegm-heat
Herbal Treatment
Sang Bai Pi Tang
Breathlessness, nausea, reduced appetite, not thirsty, a thick-greasy tongue coating, and a slippery pulse.
4. Obstruction of Turbid Phlegm in the Lung

Resolve phlegm, descend rebellious qi to relieve breathlessness

5. Stagnant Liver Qi Attacking the Lung


Treatment Principle
Soothe the liver, regulate qi, restore the descending of lung-qi and stop breathlessness

Wu Mo Yin Zi
Breathlessness, a pale-red tongue, and a weak, fine pulse; or bouts of cough with little sticky sputum, a red tongue with peeled coating, and a rapid, fine pulse.
6. Lung Deficiency


Treatment Principle
Supplement the lung, tonify qi and nourish yin
Herbal Treatment
Sheng Mai San, Bu Fei Tang
Chronic breathlessness, green-blue complexion, cyanotic lips, a pale moisture tongue coating, and a deep and weak pulse; or breathlessness, cough, red complexion, restlessness, a red and dry tongue, and a rapid, fine pulse.
7. Kidney Deficiency
