What is the purpose of the Refrigeration Cycle |
To create a cooling medium at a low temperature |
|
Describe the Refrigeration process |
Saturated liquid at point a flashes across a valve from Point A to Point B, producing a two phase fluid From Point B to Point C, the liquid phase portion of the fluid is vaporized due to the absorption of heat from a process stream at at heat exchanger To condense the vapour, it is compressed from Point C to Point D. (Temp depends on mechanical efficiency of the compressor-in theory a 100% efficient compressor results in no entropy) At Point D to Point A the Vapour is condensed to a liquid |

What does the economizer do? |
Puts two streams into indirect contact to preform the heat exchange process Reduces the size of the needed compressor and condenser, and saves power |
