it is a flat rectangular surface which also senses movement of a finger on its surface

it is similar to a mouse but you can move it over the screen and point at items on the screen to input data

what does a scanner do

it allows you to transfer pictures,graphics and text to your computer

how does the scanner work

it scans the image from the top to the bottom one line at a time and transfers it to the computer. it can then take that copy and use it in point programs, send it out as a fax or print it

how do microphones work

the computer responds to this data by carrying out instructions,such as printing a document to turning the spoken words into text in a ord processor

what are other names given to the microphone

they are called voice-activated or voice recognition system

these convert drawings and photographs into data for architects and makers of maps
