What is Military deception?

Actions taken to mislead enemy decision makers into taking specific actions or lack of actions that contributes to the success of one’s own effort

What are some types of military deception?

Disinformation - Can be done by increasing or decreasing enemy understanding about a situation or environment. Can delay or paralyze an enemy action. Ex: moving Artillery in supporting positions which purposely reveal signs of preparing for an operation. Can be use to achieve the element of surprise


Concealment- Night movements. Closely controlled traffic,


Camouflage - camouflage weapon positions with trees and branches,


Demonstrations- to show intensity in an area

What is military information support operations (MISO)?

Delivers messages, use loud speakers, delivers information in support of operations

What is Information related capabilities?

A tool, technique, or activity utilized to create effects and operationally desired conditions

What is MISO designed for?

Designed to develop and convey messages that influence select foreign groups. Csm be done by public engagements, television, radio, print products, text message, social media, and websites. Ex. United States offer and pay rewards for information that enables the disruption of terrorist threats or contributes to the force protection of U.S.

What is the IRC Combat Camera?

Provide feedback for combat decisions. The eyes and ears of the commander. Can use still imaging or video. Used as lessons learned, after action reviews, records for historical purposes

What is operational security (Opsec)?

A security and risk management process that prevents sensitive information from getting into the wrong hands. Assist with developing programs. Provide Opsec training

What is public affairs?

Keeps the American people and the army informed. They help establish conditions that leads to confidence. Aims to influence public policies, built and maintain strong relationships with legislators. To make sure organization interest aren’t left behind.
