Stages of Piaget's Theory
1.) sensorimitor - spans the first two years of life, infatns and toddlers "think" with their sensorimotor equipment and cannot yet carry out many activities mentally

2.) preoperational stage, spans ages 2-7, the most obvious change is an extraordinary increase in mental representation (egocentrism)

3.) concrete operational stage, 7-11 years, major turning point in cognitive development, thought becomes far more logical, flexible, and organized; more closely resembling adults than children

4.) Formal operational stage, 11 and up, develop the capacity for abstract, systematic, and scientific thinking
