Check for leaks. License plate. Check HL, clear, clean, not cracked broken, illuminate, Hi Lo. Turn signal and 4 ways, amber, clean, not cracked, illuminate. DOT lites, amber, not missing, cracked or broken, illuminate.

Passenger Side Engine
Check oil level, condition, no leaks. Check coolant level, condition, not cracked or leaking, securely attached. Hoses up and low to radiator securely attached, not cracked broken, no leaks. Belt driven Alternator, securely attached, not cracked broken, no missing nuts bolts, lines attached securely, not frayed or broken, belt not cracked or broken, no more than 3/4 in delection. Gear driven water pump, securely attached, not cracked, broken, leaking, no missing nuts or bolts, hoses attached securely, not cracked broken, no leaks. Check Frame and Crossmembers front to back, not cracked or broken, securely attached, no illegal welds, not missing nuts or bolts. Check exhaust front to back, securely attached, no missing connections, soot trails indicate leaking, no holes.
Oil, coolant, alternator, water pump, frame and cross, exhaust.
Drivers Side Engine
Check gear driven Air Compressor, securely attached, not cracked or broken, not missing nuts or bolts, not leaking, all hoses and lines securely attached, not cracked or broken, no audible air leaks. Power Steering reservoir, level and condition, securely attached, not broken, not leaking. Check Steering Column, not bent or broken, securely attached, U Bolt secured, not broken, missing nuts and bolts, greased. Gear Box securely attached, not missing nuts or bolts, not cracked or broken,not leaking. Steering linkage securely attached, no missing nuts or bolts, cotter pins, castle nut, not cracked or broken, this includes my Pitman Arm, Drag Link, Upper and Lower Knuckles and Tie Rod.
Air Compressor, Power Steering, Steering Column, Gear Box, Steering Linkage.
Front Suspension
Check Springs, not cracked, broken, shifted, securely attached front and back, none missing. Check Spring Mounts/Hangers connected to frame front middle rear, not cracked or broken, no missing nuts or bolts, U Bolt not missing, broken, not missing nuts. Check Shock Absorber, securely attached top and bottom, not broken cracked, not leaking.

Front Brake Assembly
Check Hoses and Lines, securely attached, not frayed, cracked or broken, no audible air leaks. Check Chamber, securely attached by C Clamp, not missing nuts or bolts, cracked broken, not dented, not leaking. Check Slack Adjuster, securely attached C Clamp, not missing nuts or bolts, pins, not broken, with brakes released push rod no more than 1". Check Drums, securely attached, not cracked or broken, not missing any bolts, no oil or grease from inner oil seal. Check Inflation according to manuf. standards. Check Condition, no cracks, bulges or holes. Check Depth, even across top, no less than 4/32" depth in all grooves. Check Rims, securely attached, not cracked or broken, no illegal welds, attached with Lug Nuts, none missing, all tightened, too loose rust trails, too tight spider cracks. Check Hub Oil Seal, inner and outer, not broken, leaking, secured, not missing any bolts.

Check Mirrors, no missing nuts or bolts, securely attached, not cracked or missing, clean. Check Door, latches when opened and closed with good seal around door, no missing hinges and securely attached to door and cab. Check Fire Extinguisher, securely attached, charged, ABC Rated. Check extra fuse for every fuse in truck, breaker? Check Three Red Triangles securely attached in box. Check Drivers Grip, secured, not broken. Check Drivers Step, not cracked or broken, securely attached to fuel tank straps, hold weight. Check Fuel Tank, securely attached by straps, not cracked or broken, not leaking, Cap is tight with good rubber seal, not missing. Check Lights and Reflectors, not missing, broken, amber, illuminate.

Back of Tractor
Check Lights and Reflectors, none missing, not cracked or broken, clear clean, relector tape clean and not missing. Check Air and Electrical Lines, securely attached to tractor, elect lines not cracked or frayed, not taped, air lines not cracked, no holes, no audible air leaks, no lines dragging the catwalk or frame. Check Battery Box, battery securely attached, connections not corroded and wires securely attached, if not maitenance free water kevel and no missing caps, box not broken and securely attached, no missing nuts or bolts. Check Catwalk, not cracked or broken, no missing nuts or bolts, no debris on CW. Check Drive Shaft, securely attached front and back, no missing nuts or bolts, Universals not broken or cracked and properly greased, nothing twisted around it. Check Exhaust, securely attached, not missing nuts or bolts, no soot trails indicating leaks, not cracks or holes. Check Frame and Crossmembers, not broken or shifted, no illegal welds, no missing nuts or bolts.

Going to check like I did the front axle. Additional 2 things. Check Torque Rod, securely attached, not bent or broken, no missing nuts or bolts. Check Air Bags, securely attached upper and lower, no cracks or air leaks. Check Springs, not cracked, broken, shifted, securely attached front and back, none missing. Check Spring Mounts/Hangers connected to frame front middle rear, not cracked or broken, no missing nuts or bolts, U Bolt not missing, broken, not missing nuts. Check Shock Absorber, securely attached top and bottom, not broken cracked, not leaking.

I'm going to check this axle like I did the front. Check Hoses and Lines, securely attached, not frayed, cracked or broken, no audible air leaks. Refectors not missing or broken, clean, red.

5th Wheel Assembly
Check Mounting Brackets, not cracked or broken, no missing nuts or bolts, securely attached. Check Locking 5th Wheel Pin, securely attached, not broken, pin locked in out position, air line securely attached, not broken, no audible air leaks. Check Locking Jaw handle, not bent or broken, pushed in the locking position. Check Platform, securely attached, not cracked or broken. Check 5th Wheel, not warped, cracked, properly greased. Check Apron, securely attached to trailer, not warped, cracked or holes, no missing nuts or bolts. Check Kingpin, not bent, securely attached to apron. Check Locking Jaws, not broken, securely attached around the shank of Kingpin.

Front of Trailer
Check Headerboard, not cracked or broken, securely hold the weight of cargo, no missing rivets. Check Air and Electrical Lines, securely attached, not frayed cracked or broken, Glad Hands have good rubber grommets and securely attached, not broken. Check Running Light, amber, not cracked or missing, illuminate.

Side of Trailer
Check DOT tape, 50% on side of trailer. Lights and Reflectors, not cracked broken, illuminate, clean, not missing. Check Landing Gear, securely attached to frame, not cracked or broken or bent, gear all the way up in locked position with handle secured, sand feet securely attached. Check Floor and Crossmembers, not bent warped or broken, no holes, not missing nuts or bolts. Check Sliding Tandem, securely attached, locking pin in outward position with handle pushed in locked position, not bent or broken. Check Door Holders, not broken or missing, securely attached.
Lights and Reflectors, Landing Gear, DOT, Sliding Tandem, Door Holders.
Back of Trailer
Check Doors, not broken, warped or holes, hinges attached to doors and frame, none missing, doors open and close with a good seal, door locks work properly, not missing nuts or bolts. Check Lights and Reflectors, red, L and R, tail and brakes, 4 ways, not cracked, broken, missing, clean and illuminate. Check License plate and Light, clear, not missing or broken and illuminates. Check DOT Bumper, securely attached, not missing nuts or bolts, not overly bent to render it ineffective. Check Splash Guards, not cracked or broken, securely attached, not missing nuts or bolts, not dragging the ground.

In Cab Inspection
Seat Belt, not frayed, broken and latches. Safe Start, clutch, neutral, key, clutch. Check Clutch, no more than 1-2" play. Check all my Gears, Hi Lo go in and out, Shifter in neutral retracts. Check Mirrors, securely attached, not cracked broken, clean and adjusted to my field of vision, both. Check Windshield, not cracked, clean, no illegal stickers. Check Windshield Wipers, Hi Lo, securely attached to arms, not frayed, clean, no streaks, fluid present. Check Wheel, no more than 10 ° of play, 2" in 20 " wheel. Check Horns, both. Check Heater and Defrost, all gears, feel upper and lower. Check Gauges, Water temp = 170-210, Oil Pressure = 20-45, Voltometer = 12-14. TUG test - Parking, the Trailer.
Safe Start, In Cab, Gauges, TUG Test.
4 Point Air Brake Check
Point 1:
Bring PSI down to approx 90PSI. Raise RPM between 1200-1300 until my Governor cuts out and my Air Compressor shuts off. I'll know this when my gauges stabilize between 100-140PSI.

Point 2:
Put in gear. Turn off key, turn on key to see gauges. PUSH IN both brakes. Hold brake pedal down for 1 minute to make sure don't lose more than 3PSI in a Single vehicle with air brakes, 4PSI in a Combination Vehicle with a trailer with air brakes. "Will you time me please?"

Point 3:
Feather down my brakes to approx 60PSI until my Warning Light and Buzzer come on.

Point 4:
Feather down my brakes to between 20-45PSI and look and listen for both my brake buttons to pop out.
