There is a certain amount of information that the invoice must contain to be acceptable to the CBSA. The CBSA has a form which may substitute a regular invoice.

However it is not necessary to include the form if the invoice contains all the necessary information.

What is the B3 form?

The B3 form is used to provide information on the goods that are imported intoa a format that suits how the CBSA accounts for them

What is the Certificate of Origin?
|
The Certificate of Origin certifies where goods originate and is used in setting the rate of duty that applies to goods.

What is NAFTA?
|
A well known Free Trade Agreement from Canada.

Where goods are imported that purport to be of North American origin (and therefore duty free), they may require a certificate of origin which certifies that the goods are NAFTA-souced.

Sales taxes that would apply to a domestic transaction cannot be avioded by importing goods. They are simply collected in a different way

The CBSA collects GST and most PST at the border as goods are imported.

PST is collected on non-commercial goods for those provinces that have entered into collection agreements with the federal government.
