Subperiosteal Implants
most often used for patients who have insufficient bone to support and secure full maxillary or mandibular dentures. Typically made of titanium and are placed on the superior boreder of the mandibular ridge with post bars rising above mucoperiosteum.
Endosteal Implants
surgically placed in the bones and can be used to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth. Often used for patients who are totoally edentulous. Bone structure must be sufficient. Four types of endosteal implants: blade, screw, cylinder, and transitional
Transosteal Implant
used for patients with the most severe resorption of the mandibular ridge and are usually the last resort for this type of situation. Transosteal staple is most common type of transosteal implant used. inserted through the inferior border of mandibular and positioned into the edentulous are starting from the inferior boreder.
Mini Implants
designed for denture instability. uses minimally invasive, microsurgical, single-step technique. implants are screwed directly into the bone with no waiting period for osseointegration to occur. implants can be loaded with the weight of the denture immediately after insertion.
