Immunity

General ability of a host to resist a particular infection or disease.

Immunology

The science concerned with immune response to the foreign challenge and how these responses are used to resist infection.

2. Specific / Aquired

Natural Immunity

Offers resistance to foreign material encountered by host. Includes mechanisms inherited as structure and function in host. First line of defense.

Specific Immunity

Resists a particular foreign agent; improves on repeated exposureto foreign agents. Provoke response antigens.

Bind to and inactivate a specific antigen
