- Who the users are


- What activities are being carried out


- Where the interaction is taking place


- Need to optimize the interactions users have with a product so that it matches users' activities and needs

- Need to take into account what people are good and bad at


- consider what might help people in the way that they are currently doing things


- Think through what might provide quality UX
- Listen to what people want and get them involved


- Used tried and tested user centered methods

Important things to consider when involving users

- Manage expectations -- keep them realistic.


- Ownership - making the users involved in the final outcome will make things easier because they will be more likely to accept or forgive problems


- Also, it will make a big difference in the acceptance of the product at the end of the process

Three categories of users

1) Primary: frequent and hands on
2) Secondary: occasionally or via someone else


3) Tertiary: affected by its introduction, or will influence its purhase
