works by Praxiteles shows the new liking for erotic expression. In his sculpture, Aphrodite of Kniods, face of nude female is sexual and shows erotic emotion.

If you compare this to hellenic sculpture, the spear-bearer, you can see move away from high classical strict and sterness to a more animated, feminized, and self consious style.

Roman Art
-painted scenes drawn from literature, mythology, and everyday life. Found in pompeii and Herculaneum two southern itallian cities were wealthy romans populated. Mosaic portraited of woman from pompeii was used as the centerpiece for a patterned marble floor. Surrounding walls were painted with frescoes signified to give veiwers the impression they were looking out into gardans and distant buildings. New sense of illusionism that they created. very clever deception of eye.
-revealed artstis skill in abillity of the technique of achieving a sense of three dimensional space on a two dimensional surface.

Shown through painting, The Still Life With Eggs and Thrushes.- it looks as if the surface isnt flat, and the table drawn is popping out.

In Tregan’s Victory Column, a sense of movement is attained by pilling up figures in an illustionistic space, and a large amount of realistic details that describe Roman military defenses, tatctics, and weaponry. This shows the sense of realism that went into this structure, along with isusions.
Early Hebrew Culture/Art
The reason for this is that they were prohibited to have “carved images of any likeness of anything in heaven, on earth, or under the sea.” They were not supposed to do this because it would be dissrespecting YHWH.
-In Fiero, there is a mosaic picture that shows the Hebrews rituals and prayers. Theres sacred objects shown such as the monorah, shofar, rams, and horns. This is used to call the faithfull to prayer. It also showed the durtained ark that shelterd the torah.

The Minoan culture/Art
-. In the painting of the Bull-Leaping Fresco from the palace of the Mino’s, there is a possibility that they were connected with some kind of bull warship. This painting is said to be a possible relationship to human sacrafice, which was part of their religious and cultural practices.
-Through the Minoan artifact of the small statue of a bare-breasted female holding snakes, it is said that this may represent a popular fertility goddess, or portray a priestess performing specific cult rites.
Ancient Egyptians Culture/Art
This is symbolized in sculptures by upper class and males usually being shown larger and more powerful than the lower class and servents. Sculptures are usually portraits of Egypts political and religious leaders to show how important they were. In the Sclupture of Mycerinus and his wife Khamererenbty II, you can see how confident and powerfull they are with their livted chins. This is because Mycerinus was a Pharoah. He and his wife are portrayed as big and powerfull.
