What are pubic lice?
An animal which lives in pubic hair - the females lay eggs in the hair.
What is scabies?
A mite, it burrows under the skin and causes inflammation.
What is syphilis?
A bacterial STI, it's symptoms include chancres, hair loss, liver inflammation, and body rashes.
What is primary syphilis?
Occurs in the first ten to ninety days - symptoms are chancres on body.
What is secondary syphilis?
Occurs in the first 2-12 weeks, symptoms are hair loss, liver inflammation, flu-like symptoms, and body rashes.
What is the latent period?
Occurring after twelve weeks, it can last years and is no longer contagious.
What is tertiary syphilis?
It is not treatable and is now in the brain, spine, etc. It is fatal.
What are gonorrhea and chlamydia?
A bacterial STI, symptoms include trouble urinating (in males) and yellowish-white discharge.
What is a viral STI?
An STI which is treatable, but not curable.
What is Human Pappiloma Virus (HPV)?
A viral STI, not all of these are sexual and four or five can cause cervical cancer. Symptoms last 3 wks to 9 mnths.
What is Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV)?
A viral STI, it causes fever blisters and can be spread by mouth to mouth, genital to genital, and mouth to genital contact. It is increased by immunity stress.
What is Hepatitis B and C?
A blood virus which can be passed sexually. It is fatal.
What is Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)?
A viral STI which attacks the immune system. It takes three months for the body to build up antibodies against it.
What is a condom?
A barrier form of contraception, there are male, female, lamb skin, linen, latex, polyurethane, and eel skin types.
What is a diaphragm?
A barrier form of contraception, it is put up the vagina at the cervix.
What is a cervical cap?
A barrier form of contraception, it is inserted over the cervix.
What is a vaginal sponge?
A barrier form of contraception, it is placed at the cervix and "absorbs" the semen.
What are dental dams?
A barrier form of contraception - used for oral intercourse - and can be substituted by saran wrap.
What is Norplant?
A hormonal form of contraception, it is implanted into the arm.
What is Provera?
A hormonal form of contraception in the form of an injection. It is good for three months.
What is Lunelle?
A hormonal form of contraception, it is a monthly injection.
What is a Nuva ring?
A hormonal form of contraception, it is inserted into the vagina once a month.
