GONADOTROPHINS
-secretions released by the hypothalaums when child is btw 8-14. (chemically identical in boys and girls)

males- cause testes to produce more testosterone
females- cause ovaries to produce more estrogen.

-at 9 or 10 these levels increase, approaching puberty
WHY DO GIRLS GROW FASTER?
Girls grow faster bc estrogen is a much better facilitator of growth hormone secretion by the pituitary gland than is testosterone, so as soon as a girl starts to show pubertal development, she starts to grow more quickly.

-ejaculation is not possible until the prostate and seminal vesicles begin functioning under the influence of increasing testosterone levels.
