Syphilis
bacterial infection can be treated with antibiotics

symptoms chancre sores appear on primary site of sexual contact, red swelling to hardened ulcer on skin. sores disappear even if untreated after 1-5 weeks.


serious complications in not treated include blindness, deafness, tumors and stillbirth.

hpv
virus that develop genital warts and is asymptomatic in the short term but can lead to increase in risk of cervical cancer,

there is a vaccine for it.

hiv/aids
virus causes immune suppression by invading and killing cd4+ healper cells (t helper cells), the body can longer fight opportunistic infections



symptoms can include fatigue, swollen glands, rashes, weight loss, loss of appetite.




no cure but treatments can slow the progress of the disease

hepatitis B

virus transmitted by sexual activity, iv drug use, from mother to child and in rare cases blood transfusion.

symptoms include jaundice, fatigue, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, and nausea.

can lead to chronic liver disease leading to death in 15-25% of cases.
