Reliability |
Data is said to be reliable if it is repeatable by both yourself and others people using the the same method.

Repeatable |
Repeatable means that if you keep repeating the same experiment then you keep getting the same answers. If you keep getting different answers then the data is not reliable.

Accuracy |
Accuracy tells you how close your measurements of the variable are to the true value of the variable.

Precision |
Precision tells you how precisely you can make your measurements. Precision is shown by the number of decimal places given for a measurement.

Independent variable |
The variable which is chosen for an investigation by the person doing the experiments is called the independent variable or the thing that is changed. eg we might change temperature to investigate how this affects growth in yeast.

Dependent Variable |
The thing being affected is called the dependent variable. So we migh t mease how yeas grow - this may be measures in several ways eg increase in mass, release of carbon dioxide, change in pH

Control Variable |
In a fair test, a change in the independent variable alone causes a change in the dependent variable and all other variables must remain unchanged - they are controlled. In the yeast example we would keep the mass of yeast at the starts the same, same mass of nutrient, same volume of solution etc

Range |
The lowest to the highest value of your data is called its range.
