• Should be reliable in use. • Should be resistant to bursting, leaking, chemical damage or kinking when passed around bends and corners. • Should not stretch excessively when pressurised (5% maximum in length) and not expand excessively when pressurised (10% maximum in diameter). • Should be light and easy to handle. Able to be made up when wet or dry. • Should be durable. They should have a high resistance to abrasion and be easy to repair. • Should be smooth surfaced internally to keep frictional loss to a minimum. • Should be capable of withstanding pressure changes and shock. |
