What do you know about our firm? |
I know this is a Canadian based law firm that had opened its first office in Toronto with 6 lawyers on July 1, 1957. Since then, the company has expanded into 12 offices across Canada (1bc, 1quebec, 2alberta, 2saskachewan, 6ontario), with a total of almost 550 lawyers. This location is one of the newer office and the company relocated here from a nearby location last year. The company also provides a huge range of legal services. |

Why do you want to work here? |
I actually never thought about working in a law firm before this opportunity was brought to my attention [I was very focused on positions in accounting firms, nonprofit organizations, and those involved with the real estate industry]. But after hearing about it, I'm actually really interested in this company. Business law was a mandatory course in the accounting program I undertook and I found the course very interesting and insightful [contracts, intellectual property, mergers]. I want to work in an industry where I can gain useful knowledge that can be easily applied outside of work. And I think working in a lawfirm can give me that opportunity. I don't know anything about this industry, but according to what I read on the Miller Thomson site, this company owns moreoffices in Canada than any other firm, so I'm guessing this is one of the largest national law firms. I would love to be part of that community. Aside from that, the location is convenient. And this office looks really nice... The logo too... |

Hmm... I did take a look at the website and went into 'client work' page there but... I just took a glance at the first page and didn't look any than that since I didn't recognize any names other than Ernest and Young. I know there an... Alexandria minerals and sports bc... And I believe including Earnest and Young there were 4 accomplishments listed there for the month of April. |

Why real estate |
Oh its really simple, as you know, housing, apartments, condos... It's a pretty big deal in Vancouver... And I believe the best place to learn more about new construction projects, new places available for presales, the locations, the prices, which developers are reliable and which are not, would be to work in the industry itself. |
