Gaudi studied architecture at the university of barcelona. He was influenced by gothic styles, and his modernist buildings contained hints of neo-gothic. Although he was well off, he never wanted to spend money on himself. He dressed like a homeless person and ended up getting killed by a tram. He was left in the road to die. His buildings include: Casa Calvet, Casa Botines, and Palacio Arzobispal. |

Calatrava is an architect most known for his bridges. He traveled to Zurich and earned a Ph.D in Civil Engineering. Due to this, Calatrava ended up combining traditional architectural design with civil engineering. This resulted in his grandiose but slender and harmonious style. One of his famous architectural feats is the sports complex for the 2004 olympic games in athens. He is critiqued for his lack of utility, the repetitiveness of his work, and the non environmentally friendliness of his buildings. |

-is most famous for Spanish Orientialism. -He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona and earned a grant to study in Italy. -During the Spanish Moroccan War, he was hired as a corespondent painter. This is when he painted "The battle of Tetuan." -Although he is foremost an orientalist painter, he is credited for introducing impressionism to spain after visiting Paris. -His works, "Old man suntanning" and "Nude at Portici Beach" are impressionist and influenced Sorolla. |

-Sorolla is the most important impressionist painter in spain. -Studying both in Valencia, his birthplace, and Madrid, Sorolla was highly successful; -he travelled to the US and paints a portrait of the president William Taft -in 1911 he was invited to an art expo at the Art Institute of Chicago. The Spanish Society commissioned a series of paintings of the provinces of spain for this expo. |
