Street style
a term given to the fashions that originated amount the young who congregated in groups on the street.
Mods
a fashion statement of long hair, granny glasses made by a style tribe who were “up for love, self expression, poetry and getting stoned.”
Afro
a hairstyle, full and fluffy and taking advantage of the curl natural to the hair of many African-Americans. Both men and women adopted the style in the late 1960’s and 70’s.
Corn-row braids
a traditional African way of arranging the hair in small braids worn by women.
Pop art
a short name given to popular art featured glorified representations of ordinary objects such as soda cans and carton figures.
Wearable art

wide pants with flaring or bell-bottomed legs that fitted smoothly across the hip.
Leg warmers
loose-fitting footless stockings used by dancers to keep their legs warm during warm-up sessions worn as a fashion fad among young women.
Swirl skirt
skirts that wrapped around the body and tied into place made of bias-cut strips of multicolored fabrics that were often from India.
Thong
a virtually bottomless bathing suit cut to reveal as much of the buttocks as possible designed by Rudi Gernreich in 1975.
Wedge
a short haircut that became popular in 1976 after Olympic medal-winner Dorothy Hamill.
Leisure suits
an alternative to business suits developed for casual wear, these tops and pants were usually made from the same fabrics and unstructured tops had shirt like collars or were collarless.
