What are the social classes in order from the highest to the lowest rank?

Who were the Monarchs?
The Kings and the Queens.
Who were the Nobles?
People of noble rank: Barons, Earls, Counts, and Knights and their ladies.
Who were the Gentry?
They were landowners, clergy, and other professionals.
Who were the Yeomen?
They were small farmers and landowners.
Who were the Laboring Poor?
They were day labors and poor famers.
When did the English Colonization happen?
From 1600- 1700.

What is Political Freedom?
Many people dreamed of political freedom because the Queen and King always ruled and they could not disobey them. Also, a Civil War broke out between the supporters of Parliament/ Puritans and the supporters of King Charles the first/ loyalists.
What was religious liberty?
The English Puritans were persecuted by England Anglicans and they dreamed of religious liberty in America in the 1600s. In 1517, a group led by Martin Luther protested certain Catholic beliefs and made Protestant Churches.
What was the safety valve?
England wanted to have a safety valve to America because it was getting over-populated. A safety valve was a place to drop off random people who were unwanted and undesirable
What were the economic opportunities for the English Monarchs?
They would buy England’s goods for a low price and sell them for a high price.
What were the economic opportunities for the New Merchants?
They dreamed of being rich and they invested in colonial venture.
What were the economic opportunities for the middle and the lower classes?
They wanted a better living, their majorly wages got cut, and gold made the prices higher for them.
What were the economic opportunities for the unemployed and the tenant famers?
They wanted land in America, had wool jobs, landowners made their land for sheep, and they were evicted farmers. “Enclosure Movements”
