What were the major causes of the weakening and eventual fall of the Feudal System?
The feudal system depended strongly on Serfs staying on the manor they were born on. When the lords of the manors started dying in the Crusades, the Serfs started realizing they could leave. This new rush of people allowed for bigger and more wealthy towns and cities.
In what ways did a symbiotic relationship exist between the social classes of the Middle Ages? Explain completely.
During the middle ages the social classes depended greatly on each other. The lower class need the lords to protect them from harm, as they could not protect themselves. In the same way the Lords needed the serfs to do practically everything from growing their food to making their clothes. The king needed the lords as well to watch and rule his land. Without the other classes each class would have no means of protection, no food or clothing, or no one to watch their land.
What was the significance of the crowning of Charlemagne by the Pope?
When Charlemagne was crowned by the Pope, it meant that while Charlemagne was king, he was ruled by the Pope. Because the Pope put Charlemagne into power, he could take him out of power and therefore Charlemagne did what the Pope wanted him to do.
Given the "ripple effect": how did the textile industry in Italy aid in the development of the Renaissance?
The textile industry started the end of guilds having a monopoly by having peasants work in the country.
Does the "End Goal justify the means" or "The means justify the end"?
In my opinion the ends do not justify the means, nor do the means justify the end. Just because you got the right ending does not make doing something mortally wrong get the ending okay. And likewise with the alternative of doing good to only achieve a wrong ending. For example, it is wrong to shoot a man to save a dog or to help an old lady across the street when you know someone over there will mug her.
