When did the Saudi family come into power?
1750-1815: Their empire kept getting larger and larger on the Saudi Arabia pennisula. Had all of present-day Saudi Arabia by 1815 except the Ottoman edges.
Who did the Saudi family ally with?
Wahabi people, who were puritanical and very strict Sunni Islam clerics. Saudi Arabia is today also very religious.

Omani Empire had Oman Coast and Somalia Coast.

After World War I. Ottomans alread lost so much land that at 1914 (start of WWI) they just had Turkey, Iraq, and the outer edges of Saudi Arabia. They allied with the Italians and the Germans, lost the war, and subsequently also lost all their political power.

It divided previously Ottoman areas into French and British areas of control and influence

Who did the British ally with to take down the Ottomans during WWI?
British allied with rebelling Arab Family: Hashamites. They had local authority on coast of red sea in Medina area. The alliance was amist the Arab revolt of 1916-1918. British promised the Arabs independence in return, but turned on them. Britain tried to make amends by putting Hashamite Kingdom leaders in thrones of Jordan and Iraq, but they only had nominal power while Britain had the real power in those areaas.
What was the Pico Agreement?
Secret agreement between France and Britain that divided Arab areas up. It was a huge betrayal to the Arabs.
Who was Mustafa Ataturk?
First Preident of Turkey, created a military, defeated the Greeks, and by 1923 became an independent country known as Turkey. He rose from the dust of the Ottoman empire. At the End of WWI, the Ottoman Empire and Turkish territories had went to pebbles and Europe controlled the Ottoman's old emire areas.
What happend in 1923 between Greek and Turkey?
Ethnic exchange / cleansing for a more homogenous population in the two nations.
Who created present-day Iraq?
Winston Churchill, the American President. Iraq used to be three separate parts, and Churchill combined them into one.
