19th Amendment

August 18th, 1920... Prohibits the U.S. citizen to be denied the right to vote based on gender. Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton drafted the amendment and first introduced it in 1878 it took 41 years for congress to submit the amendment to the states for ratification. Tennessee was final ratification to approve the amendment. Before this the amendment that been denied several times before final passing 41 years later.

Andrew Carnegie

Industrialist who build Carnegie Steel after the civil war. Introduced Vertical Integration which was a new form of business organization which allowed Carnegie to take control over all parts of the steel making process, starting with the mining of raw materials of iron ore to transporting and marketing the final product.

Industrial workers of the world

(IWW) unlike other unions of the day, the IWW organized on a class basis. Welcoming all working people- immigrants, minorities, women, and the unemployed. It primarily was organized by unskilled workers. The IWW was founded in 1905 and led by William "big Bill" Haywood. This union opposed capitalism and wanted to overthrow the wage system through even violent measures.

Is the most prominent woman of the Progressive Era. Jane Addams was a strong women reformer who symphozied with immigrants and also had very conservative views when it came to the new sexual attitudes of women and abuse of alcohol. She received the noble peace prize later on in her life. Jane Addams was a revolutionist who participated in everything from prohibition to sanitation and garbage disposal
