Marijana, Darko and Ivan talk

Marijana, Darko i Ivan razgovaraju

Place: the airport, Zagreb. Continuation.

Mjesto: zračna luka, Zagreb. Nastavak.

Part 1

Prvi dio

Marijana, how are you?

Marijana, kako si?

Fine, but I am constantly rushing and always working. America is that way.

Dobro, ali stalno žurim i uvijek radim. Amerika je takva.

Croatia is an excellent country for a vacation.

Hrvatska je odlična zemlja za odmor.

A great country for ... what? I don't understand, can you repeat, please?

Odlična zemlja za .... što? Ne razumijem. Molim te, možeš li ponoviti?

For a vacation. And you can work too--if you really want to.

Za odmor. A možeš i raditi--ako baš hoćeš.

Darko, you are joking!

Darko, ti se šališ!

Darko likes to joke. That is his good trait.

Darko se voli šaliti. To je njegova dobra osobina.

I agree!

Slažem se!

You speak Croatian excellently.

Ti odlično govoriš hrvatski jezik.

I don't speak so well and I write badly. My parents are Croatian, but I am both Croatian and American. In fact, a Bostonian.

Ne govorim baš dobro i pišem loše. Moji roditelji su Hvrati, ali ja sam Hrvatica i Amerikanka. Zapravo Bostonka.

Boston! That is my favorite city!

Boston! To je moj omiljeni grad!

Yes, I've always lived there. And where do you live?

Da, oduvijek živim tamo. A gdje ti živiš?

I am a Dalmatian and I am very happy that is so. Our coast is beautiful. I am a student now and since I started living here I've become a bit of a Zagreb dweller too.

Ja sam Dalmatinac i vrlo sam sretan što je tako. Naša obala je lijepa. Sada sam student i, otkako živim ovdje, pomalo sam i Zagrepčanin.

Part 2

Drugi dio

Do you speak English?

Govoriš li engleski?

Unfortunately, quite poorly. Croatia is probably a country to which you travel often?

Nažalost, vrlo loše. Hrvatska je sigurno zemlja kamo često putuješ?

No, you wouldn't believe it, but this is my first time here.

Ne, nećeš vjerovati, ali ovo je prvi put da sam ovdje.

Marijana is tired and sleepy, and probably hungry too.

Marijana je umorna i pospana, a sigurno i gladna.

True! I'm very thirsty and hungry, but somehow I'm not sleepy. So nice that you're here. Now everything is easy.

Zaista! Vrlo sam žedna i gladna, ali nekako nisam psopana. Baš lijepo što ste ovdje. Sada je sve lako!

That is my car. That big blue one. But where are my keys?

Ono je moj auto. Onaj veliki plavi. Ali gdje su moji klučevi?

[This is] terrible!

Strašno!

What now?

što sada?

I'm sorry! This is not possible! Darko, shall we call a cab?

Oprositite! Nije moguće. Darko, hoćemo li zvati taksi?

The keys are here. You seem to be confused today, especially this afternoon. I wonder why! I think a lovely story is beginning.

Klučevi su tu. Nešto si danas zbunjen, pogotovo popodne. Pitam se zašto. Mislim da počinje jedna lijepa priča.

Marijana, I agree, he is always joking.

Marijana, slažem se, on se uvijek šali.

Joke[s] and truth often go together!

šala i istina često idu zajedno!
