Manifestations of deltiod bursitis? (subacromial)
Microtrauma to the supraspinatus tendon → inflammation on bursa→synovial cells multiplying→ fluid production within the bursa→ reduction in the outside layer of lubrication
DDx between deltiod bursitis and frozen shoulder
- Deltoid = acute
- Frozen = slower, chronic onset
Recommendations for deltiod bursitis
- Get plenty of rest to promote healing.
- Avoid activities cause pain
- No heavy lifting or forceful movements
- Do not stop using shoulder, can cause frozen shoulder
- Maintain good posture.
- Avoid raising arms above shoulders.
- Vary tasks to avoid repetitive motion injuries.
- Use ice for inflammation/heat to sooth aching muscles.
- Acupuncture
Pain location of deltiod bursitis?
- Wide, located over front and outside of the shoulder
- May radiate to the deltoid, scapula and neck.
- Patients don't want to abduct d/t pain
DDx of deltiod bursitis?
Cervical Spondylosis: the pain regions match the dermatome

Biceps Long Head Tendonitis: Location is on bicipital groove

Frozon Shoulder: slow onset

Rupture of supraspinatus tendon: acute onset

Coronary heart disease: time-3-5minutes, nitrite helps, both ST and T waves dropped

Dislocation of shoulder: acute onset, square shoulder
